About me

Jeremy Scandlin

Founder of Art of Pain | Certified Personal Trainer | Certified Nutrition Coach

At my heaviest, I was over 320 pounds and what I saw in the mirror wasn’t just someone physically unhealthy. I saw a version of myself I didn’t recognize. I was in pain, not just in my joints, not just in my breathlessness going up stairs, but in my mind, in my heart, in my sense of self.

And yet, I had every reason to be happy. A great childhood. A steady career. A loving support system. But none of it could drown out the storm in my head. I let myself go further than I ever thought I would and I knew if I didn’t make a change soon, I might not make it back. That moment, that internal rock bottom, became my launchpad.

With the support of my wife, family, and close friends, I fought my way down to a healthy weight. And more importantly, I fought my way to peace. The gym became my therapy. Eating clean stopped feeling like a punishment and started to feel like power. It became a game I refused to lose. Was it easy at first? Not even close. It was brutal. It hurt, physically, mentally, emotionally. But that pain sculpted me into someone I can finally look at in the mirror and say, “I’m proud of you.”

That pain became my art. And Art of Pain was born from that truth.

This isn’t just a training company. It’s a movement rooted in mental health. Every plan I create, every client I work with, it all comes from a place of understanding what it feels like to hurt inside and out, and how powerful it feels to fight your way out.

And that’s just the beginning.

Soon, Art of Pain will launch an apparel line created in collaboration with local painters, tattooers and digital creators. People who know pain and turn it into something beautiful. These clothes will be walking canvases for the emotions so many of us bury. They'll stand for strength, vulnerability, and the reality that everyone has pain, even when it’s hidden behind a smile or a strong body.

Because without pain there is no pleasure. Without darkness, no light. And some of the most powerful art, just like the most powerful transformations, are born from struggle.

5% of all apparel profits will go toward mental health and suicide prevention organizations, as well as supplying clothing and hygiene kits to the unhoused population in and around the Philadelphia area.

This is more than fitness. This is Art of Pain.
